'Morning Joe' Ratings: Beating CNN's 'American Morning'

The New York Daily News' David Hinckley has written a piece on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" and host Joe Scarborough, centered on the premise that even those who don't agree with him (like President Obama's senior adviser Valerie Jarrett) still enjoy the program.

In the article is a bit of news: "Morning Joe," a must-watch among New York/DC insiders but a show that lags way behind Fox News' "Fox & Friends" and usually behind CNN's "American Morning," is pulling up in the ratings.

Hinckley writes that last Thursday, for instance, "Morning Joe" drew 366,000 total viewers to 311,000 for CNN's "American Morning" ("Fox & Friends" drew over 1 million). "Morning Joe" is also on pace to beat "American Morning" for the month of March, but numbers won't be finalized until next week.

What's more, in the New York market, Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski's morning radio show regularly beats Glenn Beck from 10AM-noon.

"We're ahead of people with a lot more experience and many times our resources," Scarborough said.

Earlier this month, The Wrap reported that CNN is considering alternate formats for its morning show; the network has had trouble finding a format that works in the morning for years now.
