Kansas City native Marcia Merrick dedicates over 60 hours every week to pack and distribute meals to local homeless people she lovingly describes as 'friends.' Merrick brings meals every day without fail, no matter what the weather is or what she may be dealing with in her personal life.
She explains, that no one expected the economy to take such a drastic turn for the worst over the last few years, and she recognizes the impact the recession has had on the community she serves. By passing out meals on a regular basis, Merrick hopes to remind the homeless that they are cared for and appreciated, encouraging them to find the strength to continue their daily struggles.
