The San Jose Sharks suffered a jarring loss Sunday night when defenseman Dan Boyle scored a goal in his team's own net, instantly ending the game in overtime. With the Sharks and Colorado Avalanche tied in a scoreless contest less than a minute into OT, Boyle tapped the puck backwards, intending for it to go around the boards. Instead, it went directly into the Sharks' own goal, giving San Jose a devastating defeat. Only one member of the Avalanche was even remotely close to the game-ending play as it transpired.
