Talk about a radical transformation. At age 40 Tosca Reno was unfit, unhappy and unknown. Now a decade later, she's a fitness guru and author of the a new weight loss book, The Eat Clean Diet Recharged. Reno recently appeared on GMA Health to discuss her journey from fat to fit.
It all began with a feelings of guilt and personal dissatisfaction. "I saw my three beautiful daughters lean and healthy, and there I was a big fat bookend -- not a happy person at all," Reno said.
It was then that she decided to make some big life changes. "I trusted that there was something in the universe, and I was going to live a life with purpose."
Reno's Eat Clean diet focuses on raising metabolism by treating food as a lifestyle choice. "You're eating more -- five or six smaller meals every three hours or so," she told GMA Health. Consisting of lean proteins and complex carbs, the diet avoids processed foods and is supplemented by fresh fruits and vegetables.
Her one major tip? Avoid foods with bar codes on them.
