We wrote back in December about Mardy Gilyard, a former University of Cincinnati wide receiver who worked four jobs to pay debt and lived out of his car.
Now, he's going to be playing for the St. Louis Rams. As Yahoo! Sports' Shutdown Corner blog says, Gilyard may be worth more than a more talented player because of his drive to succeed.
"I went from rags to riches," he told USA Today. "It just showed I'm a hard worker and that I could fight through adversity. That's all the game of football is: It's about fighting through adversity."
If that's the case, Gilyard should have a long and prosperous career in the front of him.
