Oakland's Mama Brown Keeps Promise To Kids Who Do Their Homework -- Sends Them To College

NBC Nightly News' popular "Making A Difference" segment profiled "Mama Brown," an Oakland businesswoman who wanted brighter futures for inner-city Oakland students. She challenged a group of first-graders over a decade ago to always do their homework and attend school -- if they did, she'd send them to college.

Mama Brown kept her promise and she's still continuing the effort today, offering to send children to college if they work hard and stay in school.
