Andrew Romanoff On Hardball: Chris Matthews Pushes Senate Candidate On Immigration

Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff wasted little time capitalizing on his victory at the Colorado Democratic Assembly this weekend. The former House Speaker took to the national spotlight, appearing On MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews Monday afternoon. Romanoff was likely pleased with Mathews's introduction, during which the famously combative host lumped Romanoff's candidacy in with those of successful insurgent campaigns in Pennsylvania and Utah. "The good news for Michael Bennet, of course is that he still earned enough votes at this weekend's state assembly to make the primary ballot in August," Matthews said. "But that hardy takes the sting out of losing by 20 points to former State Speaker Andrew Romanoff."

Things got heated when Matthews pressed the candidate on immigration, but Romanoff came away in Matthews's good graces after agreeing to stiffen regulations on hiring of illegal aliens:
