Vladimir Guerrero Eye Injury: Injured Ranger Taken To Hospital

Vladimir Guerrero was sent to a hospital Wednesday after he suffered an eye injury during batting practice. According to the AP, Guerrero "was scratched from the lineup after a ball he hit ricocheted off the cage and struck him above the left eye."

The Rangers later said Guerrero's eye had "significant swelling," but X-rays revealed that the slugger had not suffered structural damage. He expects to play on Thursday.

Guerrero, an eight-time All-Star and winner of the 2004 American League MVP award, signed with the Rangers in January. He had spent the previous six seasons with the Rangers' AL West rival, the Anaheim Angels.
