Big Star Getting Enclosed Patio For Winter

Big Star Getting Enclosed Patio For Winter

Many Chicagoans spent countless hours this summer on Big Star's patio. Sipping Tecate with friends while sharing perfect guacamole and tacos al pastor is the ideal way to spend a warm afternoon (if you were lucky enough to snag a table.)

Well, it looks like the party will continue through the upcoming winter.

On Tuesday, 312 Dining Diva spotted a tweet from Bar DeVille owner Bradley Bolt that filled many with joy:

"Big Star with an enclosed patio for the winter? Genius and it'll pay for itself in no time."

On Wednesday, Eater Chicago confirmed the good news: the Wicker Park bar is getting an enclosed patio.

From Eater:

Rumors were confirmed when we spoke with executive chef Justin Large, who told us that a glass-enclosed patio would allow for an additional 50 seats throughout the year.

The patio, which will be heated, should be completed by the end of the month. It'll include an awning, which will remain in the summer once the glass enclosure comes down to provide a bit of extra shade. If you spent any time on that patio last summer, you know it can get damn hot.

More seating at the ultra-packed spot is great news in itself, but then Large shared some even better news: they are adding more tacos, planning more beer dinners and have teamed up with Goose Island to create their very own beer, Deguello, which is "super food friendly" and will be available in early November.
