Kim Rugg Transform The Everyday, Video From Cool Hunting

In an age where Photoshop is the most used artistic medium, it is refreshing to learn about a contemporary artist who manually creates complicated pieces. Kim Rugg, as shown in this video from Cool Hunting, de- and reconstructs everyday objects - from newspapers to cereal boxes - to create intricate collages. Describing her aims, Rugg states, she is "removing the message, but keeping the messenger." Her obsessive and painstakingly precise creations prompt us to view the mundane in a new light, by presenting a fractured image that is easily identifiable as the original quotidian object, but is also a complete displacement.
