Arianna's Crowdsourced Book Tour: First Stop, Stony Brook

Earlier this month, Arianna invited readers to send in nominations for extra stops on her Third World America book tour. Over 200 people from all over the country wrote in to suggest their group or school as a possible stop, and we invited the public to vote for their favorite submissions. Readers cast nearly 400,000 votes, and Arianna added stops at the top three -- the Texas Nature Project in Mason, Texas, LitWorld Girls Club for Literacy in Harlem, New York, and Think Magazine at Long Island's Stony Brook University -- to her book tour.

Late last month, Think Magazine, in conjunction with Stony Brook's School of Journalism, hosted the first crowdsourced event. Think Editor-in-Chief Adam Peck and School of Journalism Dean Howard Schneider asked Arianna questions, as did several of the 1,000+ students in attendance, and students from the School of Journalism were given the chance to interview Arianna after the discussion. The evening's events also included a book signing for students and members of the audience.
