Iran UN Board On Women's Rights Bid BLOCKED

Stiff opposition from a group of countries including the U.S. and Canada derailed a bid by Iran to join the executive board of a high-powered United Nations agency focused on achieving equality for women.

At an election held Wednesday morning, Iran failed to garner enough votes to win a spot on the inaugural board of UN Women, a new agency.
