Susan Casey, journalist and author of the new book "The Wave: In Pursuit of the Rogues, Freaks and Giants of the Ocean," told Jon Stewart last night about the death-defying sport of surfing 100-foot waves.
Casey chronicles the exploits of champion surfer Laird Hamilton in her book and Stewart asked about him: "How does he ride an 80 foot wave and not die?"
"Well, that was kind of the question they had to answer before they could do it," she said. "So, they invented their own sport."
A photograph of Hamilton riding a giant wave then projected onto the backdrop of Stewart's set. "I believe that's the 'wee!' position," Stewart joked. "Wee! Wee!"WATCH:
