Seoul City Council Brawl Erupts Over School Lunches (VIDEO)

A city council "war" broke out in Seoul Wednesday after a bill providing free school meals to all students attending public elementary schools was passed.

Council members of the main opposition Democratic Party clashed violently with members of the Grand Ruling Party. Women screamed as members from both parties were pushed and shoved in the council chambers after the "eco-friendly" meal ordinance was passed, the Korea Herald is reporting.

According to Korea's JoongAng Daily, Seoul's public elementary schools will offer free meals to students starting next school year, and the city will offer free school meals in middle schools starting in 2012.
