Last week, HuffPost Impact brought you the story of Ahtyana Johnson, a 17-year-old budding track star who was diagnosed with blood cancer. She is searching for a lifesaving transplant from a matching bone marrow donor.
Since then, other publications, including the New York Daily News, have covered Johnson's story.
The Daily News reports that nearly 200 New Yorkers turned out to a volunteer donor drive on Saturday to see if they are bone marrow matches for Johnson.
No word yet on whether one of them has turned out to be a match for the young track star.
