Diego Maradona Not Ruling Out Coaching Iran: Report

Diego Maradona To Coach Iran?

It was reported on Monday that Argentina's former soccer coach Diego Maradona has not ruled out coaching the Iranian National Football team.

According to Iranian news agency Mehr News, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad smiled when asked if the Maradona was going to coach the national team.

Mehr News also reported that no meetings have been held between Maradona and Iranian football officials.

The Iranian daily Ebtekar reportedly published a headline on its front page saying, "President Ahmadinejad: Maradona might be head coach of the national team."

The Argentine Football Association said in July that they were not renewing the Argentine soccer legend's contract.

Maradona led Argentina to the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup.
