Lakers' Loss To Grizzlies Caused By iPhone Glitch?

The iPhone's unfortunate New Year's glitch left many struggling to figure out why their alarms didn't go off as 2011 began, including some of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers found themselves sluggish against the Memphis Grizzlies in Sunday night's 104-85 loss. Pau Gasol, who apparently missed the pre-game shoot-around because of the problem, had a particularly bad game, scoring just 10 points with 8 rebounds and 5 turnovers.

"My alarm didn't go off so I woke up past the time," Gasol said. "I still went to shootaround, just a little later than I should have been."

But a team official said Tuesday that Gasol missed the team's entire morning shootaround.

Three Lakers in all said they did not get up on time because the alarm clocks on their iPhones malfunctioned that morning, but Gasol was the only one who didn't show up at all, sources said. Luke Walton was one of the other two Lakers who arrived late. The third Laker was not identified but sources said it was not Kobe Bryant.

Gasol hasn't been playing great as of late, according to Yahoo Sports. Whether the glitch really caused Gasol's over sleeping or if it was just a convient excuse, only those who missed warm-ups know.

Despite a few recent struggles, the Lakers lead the Pacific standings with a 24-11 record, 10 wins above the Pheonix Suns.
