A University of Rochester student has pleaded not guilty in the stabbing death of a classmate this weekend.
Daren Venable, 20, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jeffrey Bordeaux Jr. The two got into an argument at a fraternity house Saturday.
Venable, originally from Brooklyn, appeared in court Monday with visible cuts and bruises on his face.
"This is not like him, he had to be provoked," a "shocked" relative told the New York Post. "He's a really nice kid."
According to the Associated Press, Bordeaux, a scholarship recipient, was scheduled to study in Shanghai next month.
