HotChocolate's Anniversary Party To Have Top Chefs For Good Cause

Mindy's HotChocolate Restaurant and Dessert Bar is celebrating its sixth anniversary in February with an all-star lineup of chefs preparing delicious food for a good cause.

HotChocolate owner and pastry chef Mindy Segal will team up with chefs Naomi Pomeroy, Missy Robbins, Celina Tio, Koren Grieveson and Stephanie Izard.

"These girls are all friends of mine and they are all women that at some point in 2010, [they] had some sort of accolade for their work," said Segal. "They are people I'd like to cook with and it's an honor to have them in my restaurant."

Segal, a Chicago native, has mastered the art of cooking for almost 30 years and makes it a priority to throw a big bash for her restaurant's anniversaries.

Each anniversary dinner includes beer, and this year's theme is "bad ass chicks who are chefs," Segal told HuffPost Chicago.

When asked what's on the menu for the six-course meal paired with beers from New Belgium Brewery that evening, Segal said, "not a clue, I'm dealing with six chefs from all over the country and pairing the beers, so I'll probably have it a week before the event."

The dinner takes place Monday, Feb. 28 and tickets are $200. Segal plans to serve about 120 people and all of the proceeds will go to a program called Taste of the Nation at Share Our Strength, a non-profit organization continuously working towards global efforts to end hunger and poverty focusing on childhood hunger in America.

"I get asked to do a lot of fundraising for different organizations and I decided because of my work schedule and other life commitments that I was going to focus on one issue three years ago and actually have the focus and time to actually thrive and make a difference," said Segal. "I chose Share Our Strength, and ending child hunger was a perfect match."
