Trevor Gillies Ejected: Islanders Player Tossed For Dirty Hit On Wild's Cal Clutterbuck (VIDEO)

NHL Player Ejected In First Game Back From Suspension

In Trevor Gillies' first game back after serving his 9-game suspension, the Islanders winger was ejected from Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Wild.

Just two minutes into the second period, Gillies charged the Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck and slammed his head against the boards. The referee gave him a 5-minute penalty for checking from behind and tossed him from the game.

Gillies was suspended for nine games after the huge brawl between the Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins. Pittsburgh owner and NHL legend Mario Lemieux ripped the league for "failing" in its punishment for the fight.
