Polynesian Fire Knife Dance (VIDEO)

Do not try this at home.

Polynesian fire knife dancers are among the best in the world, and the video below may very well prove that. The traditional Samoan dance has seen many forms, but evolved into its modern incarnation in 1946 when Uluao Letuli, a young American Samoan, introduced flaming pads to the dance, according to the Polynesian Cultural Center.

The Polynesian Cultural Center's annual World Fire Knife Dance Competition, which is in its 14th season, showcases the best dancers in the world. The dance is practiced throughout the region and is not solely limited to American Samoa or Hawaii (though they do often attract tourists).

The short documentary film below was made by Devin Graham, and has been gaining popularity quickly on YouTube.
