Tampa Weather Creates Serious Damage, Overturns Cars

Tampa Bay Tornado Watch Still In Effect

A wave of thunderstorms and torrential downpours hit Tampa Bay, Fla. earlier today, damaging homes and overturning cars in several nearby counties.

According to ABC Action News:

One home’s lanai roof was lifted off its base, landing in a neighbor’s home. Trees were uprooted and power lines downed. A ceiling fan from another Land O’ Lakes home’s back porch landed in the front yard.

This evening's forecast from the National Weather Service calls for a 90 percent chance of precipitation with 13-16 mph winds and possible severe storms.

A tornado watch is still in effect for Pinellas, Polk, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota and Highlands counties until 8 p.m. local time, according to The Tampa Tribune.

Incoming and outgoing flights from Tampa International Airport are also suspended until further notice, Bay News 9 reports.
