Jon Stewart Demands Ricky Gervais Golden Globes Apology

Jon Stewart is demanding an apology, from one major award show host to another.

Controversially hilarious Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais stopped by "The Daily Show" on Thursday night, and amongst other things, he and Stewart, a former Oscar host, talked about Gervais' fire breathing, celebrity skewering jokes from back in January. Stewart was not amused... because he was far too amused.

"Here's what you have to apologize about for the Golden Globes," Stewart sternly told his British counterpart. "Making people like me -- who've also hosted these events -- feel inadequate by being that funny... It hurt my self-esteem, and I think you do owe me an apology."

Gervais, who ripped on the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise and John Travolta, repeated what he said both right after the show and earlier in the week while on "The Late Show with David Letterman."

"This is what I think I should apologize for about the Golden Globes: F--- all," he laughed. "If they ever came to my standup, their heads would explode. That was toned down, that was daytime TV. What did I say that was so bad?"

On Letterman, Gervais said, "I didn't think I did anything wrong, they were just jokes," he said. "I did nothing wrong and I wouldn't apologize for it... These people are the most privileged, richest people in the world -- if you can't joke about them, what can you make a joke about?"
