Boigon Drops Out Of Mayoral Race, Endorses Hancock

Denver mayoral candidate Carol Boigon is expected to announce her drop out of the race today at a 10:30a.m. press conference and to endorse candidate Michael Hancock.

A Denver Post poll released on Sunday showed Boigon receiving just eight percent of the vote with candidates Chris Romer, James Mejia and Hancock essentially tied.

Boigon's spokeswoman C.L. Harmer is quoted in the Post saying, “Her only path to victory was to go negative and that’s not Carol."

Denver's mayoral race is mail-in ballot only, with ballots mailed last Thursday. If candidates get under 50 percent of the vote, the top two candidates face a June 7th run-off.

If Boigon drops out, there will be a total of nine candidates left in the race.

Updates to come.
