Lots o' Matzo

Nestled among the hot clubs and cool condos of Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Streit’s kosher matzo factory is one of the last holdouts of a bygone era. When the family-run business was founded in 1925 by Austrian immigrant Aron Streit, Prohibition reigned and the area was home to a bustling Jewish community. Lines of people waiting for fresh matzo snaked around the block.
