Ryan Leaf, the second overall pick in the 1998 NFL draft, is widely known as one of the biggest draft busts of all time. He made an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show Thursday morning and reflected on draft day.
Leaf, who only played in the NFL for three seasons, talked about everything that went wrong when he was drafted.
“I was a very entitled spoiled athlete at that time,” Leaf said. “I think being drafted later would have been a benefit. The best thing I should I have done is stay in school one more year.”
The former Washington State quarterback went on to say that it would have been better for him to struggle the next year because they "lost so many players from the year before."
"I would have learned to deal with a little failing, and then when that happened in the league I could have dealt with it in a more positive way,” he said.
