10-Year-Old Lakewood Boy Fires BB Gun At Classmates

A 10-year-old Lakewood boy was arrested late Monday after allegedly firing a BB gun in his 4th grade classroom at 6 of his classmates at Stein Elementary school on South Teller Street, The Denver Post reports.

This marks the second school shooting this year in the Jefferson Country, Denver area -- Bruco Strong Eagle Eastwood shot and wounded two eighth-graders at Deer Creek Middle School in Littleton late February.

Fox 31 reports that the fourth grade student shot 6 classmates inside a classroom, none of whom were seriously injured, according to Lynn Setzer, a Jefferson County Schools spokesperson.

The Denver Post reports that the 10-year-old boy sneaked the gun into class and then fired the BB gun while the teacher was looking away momentarily. The young boy was booked on assault and dangerous missile charges and will face charges in court in June accompanied by his parents.

The boy will face automatic expulsion for bringing a gun to school.
