Chris Licht, the executive producer of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," is moving to CBS News, the network announced Thursday. Licht will become the vice president of programming at CBS.
The move was widely anticipated, and is the latest in a series of reshuffles at the network. In recent weeks, Katie Couric has been replaced as the anchor of the "CBS Evening News" by Scott Pelley, and that program, as well as the ever-struggling "Early Show," has gotten a new executive producer. In addition, CBS has a relatively new president and chairman.
In a memo to CBS staffers, CBS News president David Rhodes said Licht will "oversee programming and development for all our broadcasts and platforms." Licht told the New York Times that rejiggering "The Early Show" will be his "first focus"--appropriate, given his background running "Morning Joe," which he also helped to create.
