Saddam Hussein's Palaces To Be Vacated By U.S. Army (PHOTOS)

A Look Inside Saddam Hussein's Lavish Places

Nine stunning palaces with molded ceilings, crystal light fixtures and a plethora of other amenities will soon be back in the hands of the Iraqi government as the Dec. 31 withdrawal deadline for U.S. troops looms closer.

As the Associated Press is reporting, the Iraqi government must soon figure out what to do with the luxurious properties once owned by toppled dictator Saddam Hussein. The U.S. military has been headquartered in the Victory Base Complex, located near Baghdad International Airport, since 2003.

Among the lavish residences: the Victory over Iran palace, commemorating the 1980-1988 war he started that ended in stalemate and half a million dead, and the Victory over America palace commemorating the 1991 Gulf War in which a U.S.-led coalition drove Saddam's invading forces out of Kuwait.
