UNESCO World Heritage Adds 25 New Sites To Its List (PHOTOS)

Twenty-five new cultural landmarks around the world have been added to UNESCO's World Heritage List, marking them for preservation for future generations (and travelers) to enjoy.

Each year, among other duties, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) reviews the state of natural and cultural world landmarks. Those that are added to the World Heritage List display significant cultural importance, and can be afforded a degree of protection or preservation funding.

Before the meeting, the list comprised 911 sites on the list -- 704 cultural, 180 natural and 27 mixed in 151 countries. Now, there are 936. Here are the new inductees to the list:
