Eat your heart out, film fans: the trailer is out for "Contagion," Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming disaster thriller shot here in SF. We checked it out and it looks a lot like an updated version of "Outbreak"--Soderbergh style.
From the preview, we gather that the film is filled with awesome "Outbreak" classics: violent quarantine attempts, hazmat suits, monkeys, and at least one outburst of "it’s mutating." We’re expecting plenty of overacting from Matt Damon and wide-angle shots of the Golden Gate Bridge. And according to SFist, we can also expect a scene of Candlestick Park filled with infected people. Sweet.
Thumbs up for killing off Gwyneth Paltrow early on, making "Contagion" the first movie ever to let a hot, big-name actress die without a sexy murder scene. And another thumbs up for a ridiculously famous cast: Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Laurence Fishburne…Rebecca Black. Just kidding.
Watch the preview below and get ready for disaster porn come September 9.
