Today - Woman Survives 4 Days Stranded In Swamp
After surviving four days trapped in a swamp, Florida resident Kathy Shino is speaking out about her harrowing ordeal. 'Today' correspondent Lilia Luciano chronicles this grandma's incredible survival story. "Sixty-two-year-old Kathy Shino enjoyed a life outdoors, but she never imagined that one of her daily walks would lead her to such a terrifying place," Luciano explains. Shino remembers leaving on her walk, but apparently passed out somewhere near the edge of the swamp, waking up in neck-deep water with her limbs tangled in roots, branches, and mud.
Kathy fought to stay alive for 90 hours in the swamp until two women heard her cries for help. "Rescuers could not believe what they had found and were forced to use chainsaws to free Kathy's limp body from the clinging roots," Luciano narrates as police officers show the area where Kathy was trapped.
