It's rare for a player to throw his bat into the stands, but it's even rarer for a fan to outright steal from another fan in order to gain ownership of said bat.
All of this took place in a matter of seconds in the bottom of the 1st inning of Tuesday's White Sox-Royals game.
Royals slugger Jeff Francouer, who's no stranger to swinging and missing, whiffed mightily at a pitch from Jake Peavy and accidentally let go of his bat, which went flying into the stands along the third base line.
When the camera zoomed in on the area where the bat had landed, it's very clear that a woman had initially caught hold of the bat, only to have another woman rip it from her hands and happily saunter away.
While the Royals commentator described the situation as a "battle," make no mistake, it was a robbery.
