The Carnival Conquest: A Huffington Post Travel Cruise Ship Guide

Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Conquest is a popular floating resort. The waters are crowded with sea-worthy vessels, so to make planning easier, we've done all the prep work for a cruise vacation. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on cruise ships, here is a tip sheet offering all the key information one could ever need to know about the Carnival Conquest.

Destination Paradise

The Carnival Conquest makes alternating seven-night voyages from New Orleans to the Western and Eastern Caribbean. Western Caribbean cruises dock at Montego Bay or Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Grand Cayman Island and Cozumel, Mexico. Eastern Caribbean cruises call at Key West, Fla., as well as Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas. During the summer, the ship also makes a few seven-night voyages from New Orleans to the islands of Roatan and Cozumel, in addition to Belize.

The Cruise That Never Sleeps

Like all of Carnival's ships, the 2,974-passenger Carnival Conquest offers plenty of activities as well as a vibrant nightlife. This is a great ship for individuals and families who enjoy staying busy with a full array of daily and nightly entertainment.

Watch And Play The Game

Some of the cruise highlights include the jumbo outdoor LED screen where you can watch movies, concerts and sporting events under the stars; the sports park with a jogging track and a nine-hole miniature golf course. Additionally, 60 percent of the staterooms have ocean views.

Staterooms For All

Accommodations on the Carnival Conquest range from interior staterooms (cabins with no window), to oceanview staterooms, (cabins of varying size with a window), to balcony staterooms (cabins with a private verandah), to suites (cabins with a separate sitting area and a balcony). All 1,487 staterooms have private bathrooms.

Cost

Cruise rates vary widely, depending on the season and the type of accommodations you book. Rates for interior cabins begin at $379 per person based on two people sharing a stateroom; oceanview cabins begin at $469; balcony cabins begin at $599 and suites begin at $1,189. These rates include accommodations on the ship and all meals and entertainment on board. Airfare and port taxes are additional.

Ship To Shore

Various itineraries offer differing excursions, depending on personal preference. However, some of the favorite excursions offered to Carnival Conquest passengers include a trip to Adventure Park on Cozumel, which offers a zip line tour and an opportunity to rappel off of the highest climbing tower in Mexico; a chance to swim with stingrays at Grand Cayman's Stingray City and a chance to climb the waterfall amid the tropical foliage at Dunns River Falls in Jamaica.

Choose Your Dining Experience

The ship offers a variety of dining options. You can eat in the elegant Renoir and Monet dining rooms, which are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can opt for a more casual meal at the Cezanne Restaurant on the Lido deck, or you can treat yourself to a juicy steak at the Point Steakhouse.
