FRIDAYWhat: Fleetwood MacbethWhy: Troubadour Theatre Company presents its rock & roll adaptation of “Macbeth,” as scored to Fleetwood Mac hits including “Rhiannon” and “Gold Dust Woman.” These classic jams somehow make perfect sense when paired with “to be, or not to be” and actors dressed like Stevie Nicks. SATURDAYWhat: LA RisingWhy: Expect an excitable and eager-to-rock crowd at this all-day outdoor concert featuring power trio Rage Against the Machine, Muse and Rise Against. What: Unique LAWhy: Be ready to open your wallet at this two-day trade show event, which will feature more than 225 local independent designers offering one-a-kind clothing, jewelry, housewares and more. A beer and wine garden, craft workshops and a free photo booth will all serve as pleasant diversions from the already pleasant day of shopping. What: Muse/IqueWhy: Billed as an “orchestra for the ipod generation,” this outdoor music event will feature conductor Rachael Worby creating a live mashup of tracks by everyone from Bach to Bananarama. The performance will be supplemented by live musicians and singers. SUNDAYWhat: Donut SummitWhy: Hit your local strip mall for a dozen of your favorite sugar glazed and then get yourself to the second annual Donut Summit at Elysian Park. Here, attendees and celebrity judges will taste test the sweet treats and then vote for the best in glazed, frittered, vegan, etc. Intelligentsia coffee will be on site for sipping and dipping. What: “Grease” Jeff Conaway Memorial TributeWhy: This screening of the 1978 movie musical classic is a tribute to recently deceased cast member Jeff “Kenickie” Conaway. The film and post-screening discussion with director Randal Kleiser will serve as a reminder why a “hickie from Kenickie is like a hallmark card,” and grease is always the word.
