Little Tokyo Robbery: Blind Woman Choked (VIDEO)

WATCH: Blind Woman Choked, Mugged In Little Tokyo

The Los Angeles Police Department has released a video depicting a mugger attacking a blind woman in Little Tokyo.

According to the police, the robbery occurred on July 24, on 1st Street between Los Angeles Street and San Pedro Street. In the video, you can see the legally blind 68-year-old woman pushing a cart down the street, as a short man walks behind her, sizing her up. He then attacks her in an attempt to steal her gold chain and jade pendant, which police say is valued at about $100.

The LA Times reports that a business owner then interrupted the mugging, but the suspect ran away with the jewelry.

LAPD spokesman Lt. Paul Vernon told Blog Downtown, "Street robberies are uncommon in the Little Tokyo area, so this one really stands out... And this suspect really needs to go to jail."
