Fall is upon us, which means consignment season has begun. We caught up with Robin Mundell (pictured), owner of this weekend’s Your Kids Closet Consignment Sale & Parent Expo to get a few tips on how to make the most of your consignment experience.
Bring the Family: “Your $1 admission to the event includes free admission to The Wildlife Experience,” says Robin. “Bring the kids to play or consider setting up a playdate.”
Become a Consignor: “Your Kids Closet consignors earn 70 percent of their sales, 75 - 80 percent if they volunteer with us,” says Robin. “It’s a great way to clean out your closets or play spaces and earn a little extra cash towards the next size up.”
Make It a Girls’ Night: “We’re offering a Wild Night Shopping Experience Saturday evening,” says Robin. “Grab your best girlfriend and receive a complimentary cocktail before hitting the racks together.”
Laundry Baskets: Leave your dirty laundry at home – but bring the basket! You don’t want to spend time sorting only to set an item down and have someone else pick it up. “Experienced shoppers bring in a laundry basket to hold their items while they shop,” says Robin.
Bring Cash: “If you are worried about a long wait at checkout, bring cash,” says Robin. “[We] offer a cash only line during heavier traffic hours.”
Know Your Sizes: “Before you go, take stock of what your kids will need in the upcoming winter months,” says Robin. “Make a list, write it down. Even better, use a length of colored yarn to measure your child’s inseam, torso and feet. Mark each length with a piece of tape directly on the yarn. Tuck it in your pocket and take it out while shopping to make sure you’re bringing home the right size.”
Pay Half: “Come back on Monday when select-tagged items go half-price,” says Robin.
