Barton Enoch, Marine Reservist, Held On Secondary-Assault In Early Morning Aurora Shooting (UPDATE)

An early morning shooting being investigated by police involves six members of the U.S. Marines Corps Reserve, and one arrest.

Just after midnight, a man was shot and seriously injured, according to 9News. The man's injuries are reportedly life-threatening, and his name hasn't been released.

Marine reservist Barton Enoch, 25, is being held on a $50,000 bond for second-degree assault.


The man who was shot last Thursday died over the weekend, the Denver Post reports. He was identified as U.S. Marine Corps Reservist Benton Brubaker, 24.

Enoch, who is being identified as the individual who fired the gun, is now free on bond, and Aurora Police say that his charges have been updated from second-degree assault to manslaughter.


According to the Associated Press, police are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the incident.
