Metrorail riders who were planning to use the Yellow Line to and from Virginia this weekend, be prepared to find an alternate way to cross the Potomac River. Metro is scheduled to have the Yellow Line's bridge shut down for inspections. Trains will be rerouted via the Blue Line and will run between the Huntington terminal and the Stadium-Armory station via Arlington Cemetery, Rosslyn and Metro Center.
The bridge shutdown will start at 10 p.m. Friday and wrap up by the opening of the system on Monday. Yellow Line trains will run every 20 minutes.
Metro plans additional track work this weekend: Blue Line trains will share the same track between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road and trains will depart the line's terminal stations every 20 minutes. Orange Line trains will share the same track between Vienna and West Falls Church and will depart the line's terminal stations every 20 minutes.
The Red Line, too, will see track work: Trains will share the same track between Shady Grove and Twinbrook in addition to Takoma and Forest Glen. Metro advises riders to plan for additional travel times.
