Management Lessons From The White House

Management Lessons From Obama's Mistakes

The troubling details about the status of women in the Obama White House started leaking out yesterday. Ron Suskind’s upcoming book “Confidence Men” quotes former White House communications director Anita Dunn saying that the Obama White House “fit all of the classic legal requirements for a genuinely hostile workplace to women,” and another former advisor told the author that she “felt like a piece of meat” after being muscled out of an important meeting. It sounded pretty bad for President Obama.

But a follow-up story today portrays the president as … well, if not the hero in the story, an enlightened boss who could teach many corporate managers a thing or two about how to respond when women point out systematic marginalization.
