It's no secret that in politics, it's all about who you know.
And for Michela Alioto-Pier, that means Al Gore. Oh, and the bulging list of political family connections that is already "in her genes."
Proving that putting in time really does pay off, Alioto-Pier gained an endorsement from the former VP on September 15. Before Alioto-Pier first ran for office in SF, she worked for Gore as a policy advisor and even seconded his nomination in 1996 when she was 28. Clearly he's returning the favor.
As if the public endorsement wasn't enough, Gore will also now be appearing at a campaign event with Alito-Pier on October 3, according to SF Appeal. SFist reported that the campaign event is a $500-per-plate clandestine dinner at a location revealed only upon paid RSVP.
"Vice President Gore truly believed government could be a force for good," said Alioto-Pier in the statement about Gore's support. "I kept that same perspective as a supervisor, and it is what I'll do as Mayor. I'm very proud to have Mr. Gore's endorsement, and am honored by his friendship and support." We bet.
