John Travolta added to his ever-growing fleet of personal aircraft this week when he became the Business Aircraft Brand Ambassador for Bombardier.
The actor bought a Bombardier Challenger 601 jet, making it the 11th aircraft in his fleet. Bombardier business aircraft President Steve Ridolfi said in a press release: "John is both a film icon and knowledgeable aviator. He also recently added the Challenger aircraft to the impressive list of 11 different jets he is qualified to fly, an aircraft that offers him the ability to meet his passion for aviation and demanding business travel requirements all in one. We are thrilled to have him as our brand ambassador."
Luckily, the actor's wife and kids are on board (pun intended) for all the flying they do as a family. "My family fortunately loves traveling. Whenever I say, 'I have to go to Australia or Paris,' they say, 'When are we going? I'm there,'" Travolta told People magazine.
Travolta has been a licensed pilot since he was 23. He even told People that, "I love [flying] so much that I built my house next to a [runway] so I could fly my jet to my front door."
Of the new appointment, Travolta said: "Business aviation has always made sense to me in that it offers flexibility, privacy, security, and most importantly, timesaving - meaning I have the ability to keep up with my busy schedule and have more time for my family, which is very important to me. On top of that, I'm a pilot - I love to fly. Bombardier designs aircraft as much for the person flying them as for the passenger. I'm proud to represent their aircraft."
Of course, with with great power comes great responsibility. Qantas tapped the actor to conduct its in-flight safety videos this spring, an act that was dubbed "cringe-worthy" by flight attendants.
