Wilco Returns, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Plays A Cancer Victim

Monday, September 26

"Gossip Girl" returns for season five and takes its drama out west to Hollywood. Watch for a guest starring appearance from Elizabeth Hurley as the older woman who has her way with Nate. Based on the preview, there will be a lot of saying "yes." We're not sure what that means, unless it's a subliminal message meant to get you to watch at 8 p.m. ET on the CW. Yes!

"Terra Nova" just might replace "Lost" in the hearts of many. The Steven Spielberg-produced science fiction series begins in the year 2149, as earthlings face extinction. But people are still smart in 2149, and those savvy scientists develop a time machine to take them back in time to the Cretaceous period. Except, oops, there are dinosaurs. We're definitely not missing this one.

Wilco will finally give us The Whole Love on Tuesday. The whole thing! The alt-rock group's eighth album already has a high 86 on Metacritic, and it had us at "Art of Almost." Check out a preview here:

2010's best miniseries, "Carlos," will be released on DVD Tuesday. Directed by Olivier Assayas, the three-part series starring Edgar Ramirez chronicles the rise and fall of Venuzuelan terrorist Carlos the Jackal. Don't be fooled -- at almost six hours, this film feels shorter than some two hour films out there. The middle segment -- which mainly plays out a hostage situation at OPEC headquarters -- is one of the most gripping pieces of cinema, period.

"50/50" stars Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a comedic take on dealing with cancer, you know, a finding-humor-in-the-unlikeliest-of-places kind of tale. Based on the life of screenwriter Will Reiser, who is also Rogen's best friend, "50/50" looks to be the kind of buddy comedy that can also pull on those heartstrings.
