Conrad Murray Documentary Causes Controversy for NBC News and MSNBC

MSNBC Under Fire For Controversial Conrad Murray Documentary

MSNBC came under fire on Wednesday when the network announced its plans to air a documentary that followed Conrad Murray and his defense team through their trial preparations.

Michael Jackson's Estate released a statement on Wednesday harshly criticizing the network for planning to air the documentary, according to documents obtained by TMZ. The statement called the network's actions "irresponsible and inexplicable."

MSNBC planned to debut "Michael Jackson and the Doctor: A Fatal Friendship," on Friday, November 11. This would follow two exclusive interviews set to air before the documentary, on Thursday and Friday's "Today."

NBC released a clip of the exclusive interview on Wednesday. The clip showed that "Today's" Savannah Guthrie interviewed Conrad Murray before he was charged guilty of involuntary manslaughter on Monday.

According to the statement obtained by TMZ, Michael Jackson's estate wrote that they planned to contact top executives at Comcast, NBC Universal, and MSNBC to articulate their "disdain" for the networks' decision to air the documentary.
