They've long promised a "different" Snow White and, well, from the look of it, they're delivering.
The first trailer for "Snow White and the Huntsman" has just hit the web, teasing a gorgeous and intense adventure that casts Charlize Theron in an evil light we haven't seen since her turn in "Monster." Playing the Evil Queen, she lives on the pain and suffering of her subjects, embracing war on massive scales. When a mirror -- or, a liquid version of one -- tells her that Snow White will one day surpass her as the fairest of them all, she hires (or, forces) Huntsman Chris Hemsworth to go after the Kristen Stewart-portrayed princess.
"I wasn't initially jumping at the chance [to play Snow White]," Kristen Stewart told Comic-Con this summer. Then, she read the script for "Snow White and the Huntsman," and realized that this was no ordinary princess. Instead, she's a tough girl, bent on revenge. Another selling point, she said, was, "I get to have a sword and stuff."
Violent and rich, the trailer offers a much different looking film than "Mirror, Mirror," the other Snow White film that's on its way to theaters. That one stars Lily Collins in a film far more like the traditional, Disney fairytale that has marked the Grimm story for so long.
As a side note, we'll have to wait to see the part of the film where Stewart punches Hemsworth in the mouth.
