Ben Stiller Auctions Off Extra Role In 'Neighborhood Watch' At $23,000 For Charity

The Insane Amount Bidder Donated To Charity For Role In Ben Stiller Movie

Rather than hire an extra for his upcoming film, Ben Stiller auctioned off the role for charity.

The "Meet The Fockers" star auctioned off a walk-on part in "Neighborhood Watch," for one week on Charity Buzz to benefit The Stiller Foundation. Charity Buzz estimated the role, which means sharing the set with Jonah Hill and Vince Vaughn, would fetch upwards of $20,000.

The final bid topped that, closing at $23,000 on Tuesday afternoon.

The winning thespian hasn't been announced, but the beneficiary of those thousands has been named. Stiller's foundation works to provide education to underprivileged children worldwide, but focuses primarily on those in need in Haiti.

The film has a "save the world" feel to it too. It's a sci-fi comedy about a group of dads who form a local watch group and discover an extra-terrestrial plot to take over the world, according to the Internet Movie Database.
