Beyond the convention center, day two of these art olympics includes rare film screenings, hipster chillwave performances and sculptures that are only complete once you get drunk.
Convention Center CultureArt Basel Miami Beach opens to the public today. At last night's versionnage, the Stephen Merit booth was a popular stop thanks to Jennifer Rubell's Engagement. Fairgoers can pose with a life-sized wax model of Prince William and slip their finger into the engagement ring he gave Duchess Catherine. Also worth a visit is Loretta Howard Gallery's “Max’s Kansas City, 1965-1974.” Look for work by Robert Mapplethorpe and Williem de Kooning in honor of the legendary venue. (Thursday through Sunday)
This Ain't FairOHWOW may have moved to L.A., but they're back in Miami with their annual It Ain't Fair show during Basel. Drink in the ArtErwin Wurm's “Beauty Business” exhibit at the Bass Museum includes the Drinking Sculpture series. The works are comprised of vintage pieces containing booze, and the other half of the art is you getting drunk. The bottles will be replaced nightly. (Thursday through Sunday)
