Iraqi Woman Finally Becomes Art Sensation At 75 (VIDEO)

It is hard to make it today as an artist no matter what. As an Iraqi woman growing up amidst war, poverty and oppression, Haji Khanem had many additional hurdles to overcome. However, despite it all, Khanem, currently working from Amsterdam, is becoming a loved and acclaimed artist at 75-years old.

She has had no formal training, having been forbidden to create art by her father and married off at 16. Yet, years later Khanem returned to her passion and let her talents reach their full potential. She has now sold hundreds of her works, which overflow with expression, somehow emitting joy and suffering simultaneously. Known as 'The Lady of Color,' Khanem has become a worldwide sensation and inspiration to so many that anything is possible.
