It should have been a good week for Kris Humphries, who reportedly inked an $8 million deal with the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday.
But just days after, the basketball player-turned-reality show star was booed by Knicks fans on court at Madison Square Garden.
Now it appears that it was more than just good old-fashioned rivalry ribbing: Forbes magazine has named Humphries the NBA's "Most Disliked Player," a title the 26-year-old likely wants to relinquish faster than that of "Kim Kardashian's Husband."
But while the latter took only 72 days, the former carries with it some serious repercussions. Forbes estimates that all of the magazine covers, TV air time for something other than b-ball and disastrous marital unraveling has led to a public disenchantment with an athlete who should have had it all.
"He's been on five magazine covers, all in a negative light... It's all so recent, he's gotten all this publicity for something other than basketball talent," a VP at Nielson Sports told the magazine.
Humphries also hasn't been weathering the spotlight post Kardashian-split well. Humphries allegedly countered Kardashian's file for divorce by filing for an annulment based on fraud.
In addition, a prenup signed with Kardashian bans Humphries from speaking publicly about their relationship, while scenes from their now-shattered affair continue to air ex-post-facto on the hit reality show "Kourtney & Kim Take New York."
Following Humphries in the "Most Disliked Players" list is LeBron James, who became sorely unpopular with fans for the way he handled his move from Cleveland to Miami.
