Corn Stalks Save Boy From Tumbling Car

In what might have looked like an episode from "Smallville," the series about young Clark Kent, aka Superman, a young boy was saved by corn stalks that propped up the car he was riding in when he was thrown from the vehicle.

According to CBS Detroit, the 7-year-old escaped with minor injuries after the driver lost control of the car Monday on an icy road in Montcalm County's Bloomfield Township north of Grand Rapids, Mich.

As the car crashed into a corn field, the boy -- who wasn't wearing a seat belt -- was thrown out of the car as some of the corn stalks stopped the vehicle from falling onto the child, reported Wood-TV 8.

Of the two adults and four youngsters in the car, only the 7-year-old was injured and taken to a hospital where he was treated and released.
